More Craft Storage

Hello Scrappers and Friends! I've already shared some storage ideas that I use but here's a few more. Hope these give you some ideas and help with your storage issues.
I am storing my ink pads in a cassette tape holder I purchased at a thrift store. I have seen some ladies paint theirs to match their rooms. Eventually I will label the Distress Inks so I can tell which one is which.

I use these little containers to store my embellishments. You can purchase these containers at Dollar General or Dollar Tree for really cheap. I have them all pretty much labeled and placed inside a drawer of a Recollection cube.

Stickle storage I use the Dazzle Caddy that you can purchase on Amazon and a few other sites. Also I got that blue container at a garage sale but I think you can get them at Dollar General. The blue containers work as well. The Dazzle Caddy and that blue container fit really well inside the Recollection Drawers as well. Remember to keep your stickles upside down so they wont dry out and get air bubbles.

I am using this wooden rack my husband found our old garage to store my catalogs for craft supplies plus a few tools. Can't forget my Twilight magazine. This rack has 2 drawers too which I plan on eventually putting business cards for consultants and cards from other scrapbook stores nearby.

Hope this helps anyone struggling to come up with some thrifty storage and what to look out for at local thrift shops or garage sales. Have a splendid crafty time!

Recent Layouts

Hello Scrappers and Friends! This weekend I completed a few layouts, hope you like them.

Here's a simple one of my brother and I. I had to get a picture of us for my mom's gift a year ago so I forced him to get a picture with me. He complains when I take lots of pictures, mainly because I tend catch him at his worst moments, but that's what makes it fun. I used one of Dollar Tree's washi tapes to do the top floral pattern. Then I used a few sequins to add some sparkle. The circle around us and the little bracket is chipboard that I inked with Staz On black ink. The swirls are some random clear stamps that I got and I used the Staz On black ink then used clear embossing powder to just add some texture. The flowers are small fabric ones with some jeweled brads in the middle.

The next layout is of my husband. Love him dearly, but he won't be picking out my shoes anytime soon. He was so sweet trying to help me pick out some shoes for my friends wedding, but he doesn't know my style obviously. This layout was pretty fun and colorful. I used Stickles to outline my journaling and his picture. I then used Washi tape to do the patterns at the bottom of the page. The chipboard pieces are from 3 Birds Studio, love their stuff! The text I put on this page is my favorite part.

This layout I did of my mom's lasagna, yes her lasagna is so good it had to have it's own layout! Again I used some Dollar Tree washi tape for the designs above and below the picture. The patterned paper I love and it has texture.

This page I did of our friend's wedding. The background is a little busy so it's hard to see the wording so lesson learned. The little street light and circle design I cut from my Cricut. On the corner of the one picture I put a little jeweled flower. Then I used washi tape and lined the corner with it. I placed a flower with a brad on the corner of that and added some stickles to the brad to make it shine and sparkle. I have these little metal stickers and I added one that says "love". My favorite part of this page is the little street light, its so adorable!

This layout was a bit of a challenge because I had to find pictures that would fit into the squares. I cut the collage on my Cricut and then fit the pictures into the spaces. I also cut some pieces of paper and embossed them with my Cuttlebug. I took a strip of ribbon and ran it through my sticker maker and then placed it on the layout and outlined the strip with stickles. The chipboard pieces are some random ones I had and I placed a paper flower with a button in the middle. Then the whole collage I glued to another sheet for some background. Love the way this looks. I love how I can size anything to whatever size I want on my Cricut Explore!

Last but not least here is a simple layout I did of my husband and I after the wedding. I cut the white piece out on my Cricut. I took some pretty glitter strips of paper and placed those on the page and then I cut out "My Love" on my Cricut.

Overall I had a very productive and great weekend! Found some good deals, organized my space and did some layouts. Hope you all had a splendid crafty time! Thanks for looking.

Recent Craft Storage Changes and Ideas

Hello Scrappers and Friends! If you didn't know I absolutely love to organize and I love to buy storage! You can never have enough storage.

So starting with my wood mount stamps. Usually I put them in acrylic shadow box picture frames but I have ran out of the frames and needed something else to hold my stamps until I get more. I got a few curtain/sheet cases for free at yard sales and thought hey that could work! Sure enough it does! It would be awesome to hang these and label them on the side or put tags on them.

Tic Tac
Then I needed to store my eyelets in something where I could get to them easily. I had them in these Tic Tac cases that I got at a garage sale and it works but I decided to move all my eyelets into this case that I got at Hobby Lobby a few years ago. I love it! It has been sitting empty the whole time now I'm putting it to use!

I have been using this jar for all my loose bits of ribbon that are left over from a roll.

Here are all my sticker makers on a rack my mom gave me awhile ago. I believe its for plants or something. But it works for my old Cricut and sticker makers!

I just bought my first sequins at Dollar Tree and didn't really have a good container to store them but I had these little ear plug cases that we got at work with our ear plugs and I used them to store my sequins for now. So cute! Plus you can't beat free storage.

So far that is all my storage changes and updates. Hope this helps anyone looking for some thrifty storage for their supplies. Have a Splendid Crafty time!

Another Garage Sale Haul

Hello Scrappers and Friends! I love to garage sale and you will notice it since I post about my finds. Usually I go with my mom, grandma or dad but this time my husband took me to one that advertised they were selling scrapbook supplies. I am so glad I went!

The lady was originally selling the items $10 a bag and she had them all set up so people could just grab the bag they wanted. Then she had the sticker makers, punch, spinning thing and idea book separate. But I like to bundle so I asked how much would she take for all of her supplies she was selling in the box. She counted the bags and said I could just take the sticker makers and everything too for $45! SCORE!

So not only did I get the stickers, paper, embellishments, stamps I also got all 4 of the sticker makers. I'll be giving my Mother in Law the bigger one since she doesn't have one and I already have one. Plus I seen an owl scrapbook kit in there and that will be going to her as well since she loves owls!

There were 2 dog albums as well, which is great because I take lots of pictures of our dog. Plus lots of dog charms and stickers.

These one stickers are awesome and so cute! I got several of these and several kinds. Can't wait to use them.

Plus I got this adorable tote that was brand new in the plastic. It even matches my craft room!

So Crafters, be on the look out for yard sales or garage sales in your area never know what kind of goodies they have. Thanks for looking and I hope you have a Splendid Crafty time!

Waterfall Cards

Hello Scrappers and Friends! This weekend a friend on Facebook asked me if I had ever done waterfall cards and I said no, I had no clue what they even looked like. She told me to check out Dawn5377's video on YouTube. So when I got time to craft I looked it up and I was amazed at how easy they were to make! They look like they would be complicated but I did a box card last weekend and that was challenging, this waterfall card was a piece of cake compared to that. I have done one for my dad for Father's Day but I'm only showing the other one today. Ill post about the Father's Day one once I give it to my dad.

All you really need is:

*Adhesive
*Paper Trimmer/ with measurements on it and that scores (or do it all by hand)
*Paper
*Embellishments (optional)
*3 Brads (or 2 brads and 1 staple)
*Snip of ribbon

I cut mine all the same way Dawn did in her video. The only difference I did with my cards is I took ribbon and put a little hole in it for a brad and used a brad to adhere it to the card to pull on instead of a staple.

Cuts:

*Background 4 1/2" x 5 1/2"
*Designed Paper on front of background 4"x5 1/4"
*Little Squares(front) 4@ 1 3/4"x1 3/4"
*Little Squares(back) 4@ 2"x2"
*Strip that goes on front to hold Waterfall 1"x4 1/4"
*Waterfall 2"x9"
           Score @ 2", 2 3/4", 3 1/2", 4 1/4"

To know how to put it all together watch Dawn's Video. I might do my own video here soon too but until I do her video is great to go by and learn.

Hope you enjoyed the card! Have a Splendid Crafty Time!

Dollar Tree Finds!!

Hello Scrappers and Friends! It has been a very long week and I told my husband I needed some Retail Therapy! So he needed a few items that I could get at Dollar Tree and I decided to check out their craft section because I've heard of some amazing things people have been finding.

Boy oh boy, did I find some good stuff! Plus everything was a dollar each! Got some nice 3D stickers, sequins, washi tape, pony beads (which you can melt and make your own embellishments), and a few small bottles of Mod Podge. I even seen some large mason jars with chalkboard lids there. My husband didn't mind when I showed him what I found, he was actually pleased. He said now I have somewhere closer to shop and its cheaper. Hope you all had a splendid crafty time this weekend!

Crop N Style Punch Pal

Hello Scrappers and Friends! I have been searching for a Crop n' Style Punch Pal for a while now, but since they have been discontinued it has been hard finding one and finding at a decent price.

Today my husband took me to a house that was having a garage sale and I knew last year they had scrapbook supplies so there was a good chance of them having more this year. So we walked up and looked around then finally spotted the table with all the scrapbook supplies. I was busy looking at the punches and my husband spotted a hanging thing with pouches. He knew I was looking for something like that but he wasn't sure if it was the same thing so he wasn't going to say anything plus he thought I had already seen it. Finally he spoke up and said "Is this something you'd need?". I look up and gasp!! " OH MY GOSH! I WANT THAT!" Plus it was only $15!! So he ran to the bank since I only brought $6 and I told the lady I wanted it but my husband had to run to the bank. He even came back with a little extra money so I bought a few more punches as well. He is the greatest!

So I am one happy Scrapper right now!! So crafter's or anyone be sure to check out garage sales because I never in a million years thought I would find one of these! I even did a little dance, how could you not?! Remember to have a splendid crafty time!

Mother's Day 2015

Hello Scrappers and Friends! This Mother's day I wanted to make gifts and cards for my mom and mother in law.

My mother in law has started to scrapbook again so instead of making her something this time around I bought her some craft supplies but I did make her a card.

My mom is one that is really hard to shop for so I decided to make a split letter with her and my dad's name and put it on burlap. I had never done the split letter thing on Design Space but I followed Melody Lane's YouTube video on how to do it and it was simple! Melody Lane has great videos, so those that watch YouTube a lot check hers out! My husband helped me pick out the Font and told me to place the heart in the middle of their names plus he helped me pick out the flowers.
He was happy because I didn't have to go out and buy new supplies to make this, I used what I had. I had never used Heat Transfer Vinyl on burlap before so I wasn't even sure if I could. Tried it and it worked! I used my hot glue gun to place the flowers and buttons on the canvas. I would have used a stapler to put the burlap on the canvas but I don't have one yet that would work for that so I used my hot glue gun for that too. Looks good so that is all that matters! I purchased the canvas at Walmart and it came with 2. So now I have an extra one for something else.

Then I decided to make my mom a picture frame too. I recently bought some vinyl at Micheal's, one of the sample sets with multiple colors from Cricut. So I used black for the lettering and green for a few of the other words to stand out. Green is one of her favorite colors. I set up my wording in Design Space and placed the vinyl on my mat sent it through and when I went to "weed" it the letters would come up with it. So I asked on the Cricut Design Space Facebook
Reverse weeding using transfer tape
Letter's peeled up with the leftover vinyl
site and they said to use reverse weed. I YouTubed that and did that and it worked! Anytime you use small letters and Cricut Vinyl probably will need to do reverse weeding. My little brother just graduated from college so this was the most recent picture of my mom with us kids. Love how it turned out and I already have a friend asking for one for their mom. The vinyl is between the two pieces of glass, same with the picture.

Hope you enjoyed these and it inspired you to use your vinyl in different ways. Have a splendid crafty time!

First Box Card

Hello Scrappers and Friends! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Mine was eventful and full of crafty time! I have been wanting to make a box card for a while now. They look amazing but complicated which is why I haven't made one but I put it on my list of "to dos". Finally this weekend one of my friends asked if I had ever made one and that they were going to try, that inspired me to just do it. So here it is, my first box card!

Flat
This card took me ALL day long it seemed. I kept messing up the score lines and the cut lines so had to go back and try again. I followed stampingwithsandi.com 's video on her Card In a Box on YouTube. It's a really small box card but its so cute! I just used her measurements on the actual card then I added my own embellishments and cut outs since I don't have the items she used. What I find awesome is the card folds flat so It can fit into a regular envelope.

For all the embellishments I used some stamps and punches I had. There are so many different things you can make to pop out of a card!

To hold all the embellishments inside the card Sandi tells you to cut 2 strips of paper to place inside the card so you can place the clear strips holding the embellishments on them to create multiple depths. She used some kind of clear strips to place her embellishments on but I got creative and used packaging that I save for embossing and just cut them into strips and it worked! Go me!

Now the issues I had with making this card was like I said before getting the score and cut lines right. Plus I think I need stronger adhesive. I used my mini tape runner and the paper strips wouldnt stay put inside the card when you would fold it down and pop it back up.
Back of card for Sentiment
So I used my Crop-A-Dile and tried using eyelets to hold them in place. It works for now but next time I'll have to try something else. Hope you enjoyed my first box card and I'm sure you'll see me do a few more! Have a splendid crafty time!

New Craft Table In the Works

Hello Scrappers and Friends! I have been very busy over the last week or two trying to figure out exactly how I want my craft table and now its finally almost done. All it needs now is some trim around the edges of the top.

At the very end of the table I am planning on adding an extra board so that I can hang my punches on either dowel rods or towel racks. I'm pretty excited about that!

The board I used for the counter top is a Melamine board we got at home depot it was originally larger but we had them cut it to 72" long and 32" wide. I'm planning on using the extra pieces for on top of the other recollection cubes for more counter top space and so it is all an even surface making it flow nicely. Only paid $35 for the top. I asked about doing laminate but for the size I wanted it was going to be $210 and that was the cheapest option of laminate! The bottom cubes, if you are not familiar with them, are the Recollection cubes from Michael's.

The Other Side Of the Room
This table gives me more storage closer to my work area than my old folding table and I can fit another person on the other side if I ever have anyone else over to craft! This table top is also higher off the ground than my old table so I wont be bent over as much when crafting. Very happy with the results so far! My dad and hubby are going to get together sometime and come up with ideas on the punch storage and ideas on how to mount my ribbon holder so it isn't taking up room on my table top.

Just wanted to give you all an update! I'll keep you all posted when we get the rest completed. Hope you all have a splendid crafty time!
